Confidence Riding

COME START WHERE YOU ARE
Real horsemanship, real confidence, and a horse who is on your side.

You used to ride. Somewhere along the way, the nerves took over. This is how you get it back — gently, at your pace, with no judgement and no pressure.

This is riding. You will learn to catch and lead, groom, tack up, mount, steer, balance, and ride - at a pace you set.

What makes it ours is how we teach it. Nobody is counting your mistakes. The horse is your teammate, not a test. And nothing happens before you are ready for it.

Learn to ride here and you tend to pick up something else along the way - the confidence that comes from doing a hard thing at your own pace, with a thousand-pound animal choosing to say yes to you. That part is not an accident. It is the whole reason we teach it this way.

You do not need experience. You do not need to feel brave. You just need to show up.

  • You used to ride and lost your nerve — after a fall, a scare, or just time away
  • You've wanted to ride for years but never felt brave enough to start
  • You're ready to feel capable around horses again, on your own terms
  • You want real horsemanship — catching, leading, tacking up, riding — however far you choose to take it
  • You're building confidence — in yourself, your body, and how you connect
  • You're looking for something for a young person in your life — somewhere they're met exactly as they are
  • You've tried learning somewhere that left you feeling judged, and you're willing to try once more
  • You want something that's about more than riding — the kind of confidence that follows you home

You don't need experience. You don't need to feel ready. You just need to show up.

What You Will Actually Learn

Confidence Riding is horsemanship first. Across your sessions you will build:

  • Groundwork - catching, leading, haltering, and reading what a horse is telling you

  • Grooming and tacking up, hands on, start to finish

  • Mounting and dismounting safely

  • Position, balance, and a quiet seat

  • Steering, stopping, and transitions

  • Confidence at walk, and trot when you want it

Some people ride in their first session. Some spend it on the ground getting to know a horse. Both are completely fine, and neither one is behind.

You Set the Pace

We start on the ground. You will meet the horse, learn to read them, and get comfortable before anything else happens.

You are never pushed past what feels okay. You set the pace, every time - whether this is your first time back in years, or your first time ever.

Helmets are worn for all mounted riding. Safety is not a formality here. It is the reason confidence is possible at all.

Our Horses

You'll be in good company. Our horses are therapy horses — calm, patient, and remarkably good at putting nervous riders at ease.

You'll likely meet Joe, Gus, Journey, or Diva first, though often we let the horses pick you. They have a way of making the perfect match.

Two Ways to Ride

One-on-One

Just you, your instructor, and the horse. The most personal way to find your feet — fully at your pace, with nothing and no one to keep up with.

Small Group Class

Confidence Riding is a riding program. It is not therapy and it is not clinical treatment.

It is also not our Therapeutic and Adaptive Riding program - that one is built for riders who need individualized adaptations and a support team to ride safely. And it is not our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, which is led by a licensed clinician.

Personal growth is still very much part of this. Confidence built with a horse has a way of following you home - into how you speak up, hold a boundary, trust your own read on things. That is the HorseSpeak Way and it runs through everything we do, riding included.

It sits alongside the horsemanship rather than instead of it. And it is not clinical treatment - we would not dress it up as that.

If you are not sure which of the three fits, call us. Working that out is our job, not yours.

Where This Sits

READY?

Call the office and we'll talk it through — what you're after, what you're nervous about, and which of our programs actually fits. No commitment, no pressure.

However long it's been, the way back is gentler than you think.

You don't have to arrive brave — you just have to arrive.
