We’re looking forward to welcoming you to HorseSpeak. This page will help you prepare for your visit with directions, arrival details, and a simple packing guide.

If you’re feeling a little nervous, that’s completely normal. Most guests arrive with little or no horse experience.

⚠️ Important Driving Note

Please do not take Cobb Lane when navigating to the ranch.

Some GPS systems may suggest it, but the road is not suitable for access.
Instead, please follow directions via:
Lake Camanche Lane → Arapaho Way

This will bring you safely to the ranch entrance.

Flying In

If you’re traveling by air, the closest major airport is Sacramento International Airport (SMF).

We recommend planning your arrival with enough time to travel from the airport to the ranch and settle in before the event begins.

Weather at the Ranch

The ranch sits in the Sierra foothills, where days are often warm and sunny and evenings can be cooler, especially in spring and fall.

We recommend wearing comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe shoes when visiting the ranch.
If your visit includes
riding horses, long pants are recommended for comfort.

Before traveling, you may wish to check the local forecast for the Burson / Valley Springs area.

Some guests choose to arrive in the area a day early to rest after travel and explore the beautiful Sierra foothills.

The nearby towns of Valley Springs and Ione are part of California’s historic Gold Country, with small hotels, charming inns, and short-term rentals.

Just 10 minutes from the ranch, Valley Springs also offers grocery stores, coffee shops, and local restaurants if you’d like to settle in before the retreat begins.
